During this year of 2012, Austria will be celebrating the 150th birthday of Gustav Klimt with exhibitions devoted to his art work.  Several Viennese museums, including the Albertina, the Belvedere, the Kunsthistorisches, the Leopold, and the Wien Museum, are honoring different aspects of Klimt’s extraordinary legacy and art work. We Statue.com will be joining the celebrating of this great artist by featuring many of his sculptural works for sale. I will post to the blog or check us at www.Statue.com for time to time and see if it is featured.

Gustav Klimt as a prominent member of an innovating group of artists called ‘Sezession’ and is considered to be one of the main pioneers of modern art. Apart from this, his ornamental Jugendstil movement style evokes an irresistible feeling which is inspired by the ‘fin-de-siecle’ of 19th century Vienna: elitist, liberal-middle class, decadent, pleasantly-decorative. His work is extremely recognizable due to his monumental style combined with Byzantine-like ornamental art and classical symbolism, created against the background of romanticism which was so characteristic of his time. In Secessions own words: Art guides us to an ideal realm, the only place where we will be able to find pure joy, pure happiness and pure love. A choir of angels from paradise. Joy given by divine sparkles. That kiss from the entire world! These sculptures make wonderful gifts for the Secession period or add this famous artist to your collection of Gustave Klimt Secession statuary to your home gallery. Image
